Thank you for purchasing your eBook from The Medics Library. Your eBook is protected using secure digital rights management (DRM). This helps protect our authors’ work while still allowing you to read your book on your own devices.
Before you start
You will need:
• Your The Medics Library eBook access email
• An internet connection
• A compatible eBook reading app
• Your ByteBooks ID
💻 Windows or Mac: We recommend Adobe Digital Editions.
📱 iPhone or iPad: Use a compatible DRM-enabled eBook reader.
📱 Android: Use a compatible DRM-enabled eBook reader.
Step 1 — Find your eBook email
After your purchase, you will receive two emails. The first confirms your purchase, then a second email will arrive after a few minutes containing instructions for accessing your eBook.
Please check your Inbox first. If you cannot see it, check your Spam/Junk or other filtered folders.
Please keep these emails — you may need them when accessing your book.
Step 2 — Open Your Secure eBook Link
Open the email and click the secure eBook access link.
The link will take you to the secure EditionGuard download page for your book.
Follow the instructions on the download page carefully. You will be guided through the few steps needed to access your protected eBook.
Step 3 — Create Your ByteBooks ID
Your eBook is delivered securely through EditionGuard.
When prompted, create your ByteBooks ID by following the instructions on screen.
You only need to create your ByteBooks ID once.
Step 4 — Choose an eBook reader
Your protected eBook needs to be opened using a compatible eBook reader.
💻 Windows or Mac: We recommend Adobe Digital Editions.
📱 iPhone, iPad or Android: You can use Adobe Digital Editions, PocketBook Reader or Bluefire Reader.
Choose the reader that suits your device and follow the installation instructions. You only need to install one reader.
Once your reader is installed, return to your eBook access email and continue to Step 5.
Step 5 — Download your eBook
Once your eBook reader is installed, return to the secure EditionGuard page and click the Download button to download your book access file.
The download will normally be a small file ending in .acsm.
Don’t worry — this is normal.
The .acsm file is not the actual book. It is a secure licence file that tells your eBook reader to retrieve your protected eBook.
Step 6 — Start Reading
Open the downloaded .acsm file using the eBook reader you installed in Step 4.
Your reader will connect securely to the delivery system and download your protected eBook.
Once the download is complete, your book should appear in your eBook library.

🔐 Why is my eBook protected?
We use DRM protection to help prevent unauthorised copying and distribution of our books.
This allows us to provide digital books while helping protect the work of our authors.
Your eBook is yours to read — the DRM simply helps protect the digital file.

I haven’t received my eBook email
Please check your Spam/Junk folder first.
If you still cannot find your eBook access email, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
My access link isn’t working
Make sure you are using the original access email and clicking the secure eBook link provided.
My eBook won’t open
Make sure you are opening the .acsm file with your compatible eBook reader, rather than your web browser or standard PDF reader.
If you’re using a computer, make sure Adobe Digital Editions is installed and set up correctly.
Adobe is asking me to authorise my device
Follow the instructions displayed by Adobe Digital Editions. If the app asks you to authorise your device, simply follow the instructions shown on screen.
I’ve downloaded something, but it isn’t the book
If the file ends in .acsm, this is expected.
The .acsm file is a secure licence file — it is not the book itself.
Open the file using your compatible eBook reader. The reader will then securely retrieve your protected eBook.
